Dr. Melinda E. Kilty
Owner

Hi, I am Dr. Melinda Kilty and I was raised on the East Coast in Connecticut where I would spend the summers on the beach. I did my undergraduate degree in Rhode Island at Roger Williams University where I majored in Marine Biology and Environmental Chemistry. After finishing multiple internships in marine mammal rescue and pathology, I knew I was headed straight for veterinary school.

Three years on the island of St. Kitts, where I attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine,  taught me that life is unexpected and to cherish every moment. I graduated vet school in the spring of 2019 after finishing my clinical year at University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine.

These past few years I have endlessly served the community of Springfield working night and weekend emergency medicine as well as day time shelter medicine.. with a tad bit of general practice as well. I have special interests in client communication, abdominal surgeries and most of all neonatal critical care. (Bring me all the puppies and kittens!)

In my spare time I love gardening, playing with my seven dogs and four cats, going on vacation or decorating for the next season.

I am delighted to start offering my veterinary services at Five Star Veterinary Center during the day and to help Springfield pet parents when they need it most.

Dr. Erika N. Eigenbrod
Owner

Hello, I am Dr. Erika Eigenbrod, a veterinarian, a wife, and mother of 3. My veterinary career started my first semester in college when I had the opportunity to take an animal science class. From the first week of lectures I started learning about veterinary medicine and I have not stopped learning about veterinary medicine since. I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois 2013 and have a background in veterinary emergency medicine and mixed practice.

In the last year I have started pursuing certification in veterinary chiropractic after traditional therapies were not helping my own personal pet, Oskee (a 12 yr old English pointer). Considering euthanasia for the inability to walk well, I opted to try veterinary chiropractic care as a last resort. With the first adjustment, Oskee improved and continued to improve with each adjustment.
She is now still with me over a year later and continues getting adjusted regularly.

Chiropractic helped Oskee tremendously and I wanted to be able to bring that same level of care to my patients. I am now educated in chiropractic care for my patients and am excited to use the art of chiropractic to help patients not only suffering from orthopedic issues but also chronic problems such as chronic urinary and GI issues.

I am so excited to be a part of Five Star Veterinary Center and be a part of expanding the type of veterinary care available to residents of Springfield and the surrounding areas. Having worked in the Veterinary field for over a decade, I have seen and heard the needs from pet parents and I am excited to finally be able to help fill the gap. Five Star Veterinary Center will be able to provide urgent care, same day appointments, and Specialty care for your
pet.

Over the next years we will be adding several services currently not available to pets in Springfield so pet parents do not have to travel to get advanced and specialty care for their pets.
